Visit Your Legislator
Congressional Visits Day in Washington, DC
AGU co-sponsors two annual Congressional Visits Days (CVD), providing an opportunity for our members to come to Washington, DC, and meet with their legislators. During the visits, participants discuss the importance of federally funded science research as well as their own research. AGU's next CVD is 24-25 April 2012.
District Visits at Home
You can also become involved in science and politics without travelling to Washington, DC. Representatives and Senators are locally accessible during Congressional recesses. AGU staff will help you establish a relationship with your legislator so you can discuss the importance of your research and significance of federally funded research. AGU can schedule your meetings, provide you with resources, and teach you how to communicate with members of Congress and their staff.
Contact Elizabeth Landau via email at elandau@agu.org or at 202.777.7535 if you are interested in meeting with your Representative or Senator during one of our events in Washington, DC, or at home during a Congressional recess.
